The origin of this cheese is Yak Cheese Factory in Bhijer, Upper Dolpo, Nepal. The factory is located at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. The person responsible for creating this delicacy is a woman named Meena Chidi, who is considered one of Nepal's best cheese masters. The milk for the cheese comes from yaks that graze in remote meadows, and the cheese is a source of income for people in the area during the summer. The cheese is carried on foot for several days to be brought to Kathmandu, where it is sold exclusively to the Hyatt Hotel, one of the few five-star hotels in Nepal.
